INTERVIEW: J O S E P H M I L L E R - P L A T F O R M
We're very excited to announce the opening of our first official pop-up at PLATFORM in Culver City. The reason we chose this location is because the vibe and space felt very analogous to the spirit we try to cultivate here at In Support Of. To kick off the opening of our pop-up we asked Joseph Miller, one of the founders of Platform, a couple of questions. Read on below to see what makes Platform a special place that focuses on introducing unique emerging brands and experiences to the Los Angeles retail landscape.
Tell us about PLATFORM. What is it? What is your involvement?
I am one of the owners of PLATFORM. My partner David and I were seeking out a place in LA that combined the best in food, fashion, and design in a walkable and cohesive setting. We couldn’t find that place, so we set out to create it.
What do you think makes PLATFORM LA so special?
What makes it special is the mix of amazing businesses and people that call the space home. On any given day, the amount of creative and inspiring people working and hanging out at PLATFORM is incredible.
What kind of community are you building?
We are trying to build a community that is based on uniqueness. With so much of the world looking and feeling the same (avocado toasts, H+Ms) we are hoping to create a place that could only be PLATFORM and that could only be in LA.
Why Los Angeles?
LA is where I was born and where I live. It is part of who I am. In addition, people from all over the world are discovering LA. From fashion, to music, to design, to tech, to food – it seems like everyone who is doing something interesting is moving here.
What was the last thing that made you laugh?
My crazy one and half year old daughter, Georgia eating blueberry pancakes this morning.
What are you in support of?
I am in support of creative entrepreneurs trying something new and unique.
